TRADITIONAL KARATE-DO OKINAWA KOBUDO INDO KYOKAI

Impact Martial Arts Academy is proudly affiliated with Traditional Karate-Do Okinawa Kobudo Indo Kyokai — a recognized organization rooted in authentic Okinawan Karate and Kobudo traditions.Traditional Karate-Do Okinawa Kobudo Indo Kyokai is directly affiliated with Okinawa Karate-Do KobudoTenbukan-Japan, Grand Master HanshiMasanabu Sato 9th Dan and World Shotokan Karate Academy(Sweden). Chief Instructor Shihan Ayan Chakraborty MBA, 6th Dan Black Belt Karate(South Africa) & 6th Dan Black Belt Kobudo(Japan). This affiliation connects our training directly to a lineage of discipline that spans generations, ensuring every technique taught at Impact is grounded in genuine martial arts heritage, not shortcuts or modern dilution.

Karate means “empty hand,” and Karate-Do, “the way of Karate” — a philosophy that goes far beyond punches, strikes, and blocks. Under this affiliation, our training follows time-tested methods that build not just physical skill, but character, patience, and mental strength. Kobudo, the traditional weapons discipline, further extends this philosophy — sharpening precision, focus, and control.

This connection allows our students at Impact, under Shafi Sensei’s guidance, to train within a structured, internationally recognized system — one that emphasizes lifelong development of mind and body over short-term competition. It’s this authenticity and depth that sets our Karate program apart, giving every student, regardless of age, access to training rooted in real tradition and real results.

We’re honored to carry this tradition forward here in Chemmad, Malappuram — bringing world-class martial arts standards to our local community.

Hanshi Masanabu Sato

PRESIDENT OF TRADITIONAL KARATE-DO OKINAWA KOBUDO INDO KYOKAI

Hanshi Masanabu Sato

Grand Master Hanshi Masanabu Sato holds the rank of 9th Dan Black Belt, one of the highest levels of achievement in the martial arts. He serves as Honorary President in Okinawa, Japan, the birthplace of Karate and Kobudo, where his standing reflects deep respect for traditional values and authentic technique.

He is the guiding authority behind the Traditional Karate-Do Okinawa Kobudo Indo Kyokai (TKOKIK), an organization directly affiliated with Okinawa Karate-Do Kobudo Tenbukan in Japan and the World Shotokan Karate Academy in Sweden. These affiliations connect TKOKIK to respected institutions in both Okinawa and Europe, and keep its teaching rooted in a recognized lineage.

Under his lineage, TKOKIK teaches authentic Shotokan Karate alongside traditional Okinawan weaponry. The focus is on techniques that are both authentic and practical, supported by high teaching standards and a standardized ranking system that preserves a strong core foundation. This structure helps ensure that every rank awarded carries the same meaning and discipline wherever it is earned.

Because the organization teaches both Karate and weaponry, its members come from a wide variety of empty-hand styles, and each may practice and teach the style of their choice. Kobudo is honored as an art unto itself, and the degrees earned in it are entirely separate from those earned in Karate. This respect for both disciplines is a defining feature of the tradition he guides.

CHIEF TECHNICAL DIRECTOR — TRADITIONAL KARATE-DO OKINAWA KOBUDO INDO KYOKAI

ayan chakraborty

Shihan Ayan Chakraborty, born in 1981, holds an MBA in Marketing from West Bengal University of Technology and a Postgraduate degree in Export Management from IMT Ghaziabad. Yet his true calling took root much earlier — in 1988, when he first stepped into a local dojo to begin his Karate journey. That early spark led him to join the Karate-Do Club under Sensei Bapi Bose, marking the start of a lifelong pursuit of mastery.

Over the years, Shihan Chakraborty trained under some of the most legendary names in traditional Karate-do — including Masters Sadasige Kato, Kohei Nohara, Takuya Taniyama, Daisuke Ueda, Hitoshi Kasuya, Manabu Murakami, and many more across Japan, South Africa, and beyond. This global training exposed him to the purest expressions of Shotokan Karate, shaping both his technical precision and his philosophy toward the art.

Today, Shihan Chakraborty holds a 6th Dan Black Belt from IFFSK South Africa and a 6th Dan Black Belt from Okinawa Karate-Do Kobudo Tenbukan, Japan. He is also an “A” qualified Kata and Kumite referee, officiating at both national and international Karate events. A dedicated researcher of Shotokan Kata, he maintains an extensive collection of books and videos on the subject — his own Karate deeply influenced by the JKA Nakayama and Nishiyama traditions passed down through Sensei Kasuya and Sensei Murakami. His mission, in his own words, is simple: to preserve and teach the purest form of Shotokan Katas in true budo form.

It is under this very lineage and philosophy that Impact Martial Arts Academy trains — carrying forward the same dedication to authentic, traditional Shotokan Karate.
